Packing to hit the road

Our question today is really great. If you could pack up and go on vacation today where would you be off to?

The answer really depends on how I’m getting to my chosen vacation spot. If I’m driving then my answer would probably be Colonial Williamsburg. Yep, I’m a big old history nerd. I love CW!! It’s so much fun and there’s tons of stuff to see and do. Also, it’s maybe about 10 hours away so not a big deal to drive it.

Those are just a few pics from our last trip. I’ll have new ones to post in the next few months since we’re off to CW again!! Can’t wait.

Now, if I’m flying and it’s in the continental US then I would go to the Pacific Northwest. I loved Washington State. It was so beautiful!! I’d get a little place on the beach and stay there for about a month. *sigh*

Finally, if I could fly anywhere you already know where I’d go. Scotland!!!!! I’d stay there for about 2 or 3 months so I could go and see everything. Oh, and touch Hadrian’s Wall.

Okay, so really, how could anyone turn Scotland down? And those were just a few amazing pictures I found. I could post the pic of the Wall again . . . Oh hell why not

*sigh* I love it! Oh and that’s where I’d go if I could pack up right now and head out. Now go and see where the other bloggers want to go.

Top 10: Places I want to visit before I die

08-Top 10_ Places I Want to See Before I Die

First, can you believe August is almost over?? I know! Crazy, right? Anyway, as always, with these lists they are in no particular order BUT #1 is my #1 place. If you’ve been here before you all know where and what it is.

1    Hadrian’s Wall!! Yes!!

2 Chalice Well and the Tor in Glastonbury

3 The Grand Canyon – I’ve flown over it, which was amazing, but I want to see it up close.

4 Scotland – as much as I can anyway. Since, you know, it’s really big

5 The Outer Banks – a place I’m fairly close to, but have never been. Sis and I keep talking about it, but we never make it

6 Niagara Falls – another place we talk about going. Oh and they have tons of wineries around the area. Win Win!

7 Ireland – Sis has gone, but I’d love to see Giants Causeway and Blarney Castle and the billion others sites there

8  Stonehenge – so basically I want to go to England and travel around

9 All the Smithsonian museums. I’ve been to a few and had to run through those since I was under a time crunch. I want to spend days wandering through the museums and looking at all the exhibits

10 Japan – I’ve wanted to go here for a while, but especially after I saw the Samurai exhibit at the museum I worked at. It was utterly amazing. And, since I worked in the education department, we all had to do a lot of research to get ready for it. That’s what hooked me

Go see where Bronwyn, Jessica, Kris, and Siobhan wish to visit.

My Favorite Things

This week on the blogs we’re talking about our favorite things . . . about ourselves. As the post told us, it’s so easy to talk about what we don’t like about ourselves, so today we need to chat about what we like.  This is so hard for me, since, yeah, I could list all the things I don’t like all day long. So, here goes:

The first thing I like about myself is my sense of humor. I’m a bit quirky and can be sarcastic, but I’m also pretty fast off the mark. I like to make people laugh and I like to laugh. In fact, laughing so hard I cry is one of my favorite things.

I love to learn. I read tons of nonfiction books on everything from Bellevue hospital to the history of cancer. I like to know things and, sometimes, what I learn will bring about a good idea for a book. So, two birds and all that.

I think I have pretty skin. I’ve always taken care of it since I was a child and now anyone that finds out my age automatically says, “You do not look your age.” And, I think that has to do with my smooth skin, but it also had to do with the fact that I don’t “act” my age either. I always say on a good day, I’m about 12 and a half.  I’m good with it, though.

I think I write really well. I love the ideas I come up for books, I love my characters, and the dialogue I write.  I also think I can write humor and I often make myself laugh.

This took me about an hour and a half to write. The struggle is real people. Before I get a headache, I will end this, but say it was a good idea. I’m so quick to find fault with myself, so this made me sit and really think. In the end, I will say that I love myself.
